Millicent Simmonds

Gorgeous Millicent Simmonds recently wrapped her Broadway debut in the hit production of “Grey House.” Millicent’s incredible talents sparkled on stage as they did in front of our camera…as you’ll see in our photo diary below. Her beautiful mom Emily joined us at the shoot not only because they’re best friends but she’s also her interpreter, as Millicent lost her hearing just prior to turning 12 months old. Being deaf has not inhibited the ascension of this incredibly gifted actor who was nominated in 2022 for a BAFTA rising star award. She is a beacon of hope and inspiration to others with disabilities who have dreams and desires. For our shoot Millicent spotted the sweetest vintage dress and sequin top to pair with her jeans spotlighting her cool personal style. We chat about her first Broadway experience, bare beauty essentials, vaseline as her go-to night cream, self-care movie nights and cold plunges.

The Bare Magazine: List 6 words that describe your first broadway experience starring in Grey House.

Millicent Simmonds: Exhilarating, Exhausting, Terrifying, Thrilling, Overwhelming, Rewarding

Bare: as you walked off stage after your final performance, in what ways did you feel you had evolved and changed?

MS: In so many ways. There is nothing like Broadway. It’s such a rush. I think I gained more confidence in myself more than anything really.

Bare: what was the makeup and hair look? how was your glam time an integral part of getting into character?

MS: My make up and hair was very minimal.  My hair was pulled back and very little make up. There was no glam involved into my character. They wanted me to look pale and ghostly, so it was pretty easy for me. Haha

Bare: your complexion is luminous! are you diligent about your skincare regime? ...have you ever had issues with it? if so what helped?

MS: Thank you! I try to take good care of my skin. It can get pretty dry and I started applying a thin layer of vaseline at night and now I’m hooked!

Bare: you were saying how having long nails was exciting - have supplements been helpful in making them stronger?

MS: Yes! I’ve never been able to grow my nails very long, but I started taking supplements for low iron and my nails have grown so fast!

Bare: are you planning some relaxing down time? what self care indulgences are you looking forward to?

MS: I definitely am. I love getting massages, going to the spa and having movie nights with my family.

Bare: for our shoot you chose the coolest dress...you have such a good eye! can you describe your personal style? how does finding/wearing something that speaks your unique style feel?

MS: Thank you for saying that! I loved the dress and thought it was so unique. I loved the colors as well.  I try to look for something that takes me out of my comfort zone. My personal style every day is comfort.

I try and stay pretty active during the day so comfort is a must.

Bare: please list your 5 bare beauty essentials

MS: My favorite scent right now is Her by Burberry.  It’s so light and perfect for summer. For skincare I love COSRX. For makeup I’m really loving Ogee right now! I love the colors and that they are so good for your skin.

Of course plenty of water and exercise. I’ve started to sauna and cold plunge a few times a week and I love it!
