The Bare Magazine: It was nice catching up on your recent trip to NYC! What do you love most about the big apple?
Ali Larter: I grew up in New Jersey, and NYC was always that bright light that inspired me to go after my dreams. I lived there in my 20’s, and it still feels like home to me. It’s that NorthEast banter that gets me going every time! Last week, I threw on my trainers and walked from the Bowery to the Guggenheim. The city is back and feels so alive.
Bare: What do you love most about living in the mountains of Sun Valley ID?
AL: It’s magic. I mean, I never thought I would live in a small mountain town! When our kids were on zoom school, we took it as an opportunity to go on an adventure as a family. We fell in love with beauty of the mountains, Their quiet grandness. This was one of the upsides from the pandemic… we pivoted and created a life for our family that we never thought was possible. I feel so grateful.
Bare: Can you share a bit about your journey into wine making and how it's all going?
AL: Forever Gold is a true passion project. I created it from the ground up over the past year and half. From dozens of tastings to find my perfect blend, to the name and label… going through the trademarking process. I want Forever Gold to inspire moments of revelry with friends, moments of connection and laughter.
Bare: Besides acting and making yummy wine what is top on your list of passions/hobbies?
AL: Definitely cooking and skiing. We are cozying up for the snowy ski season, and I love making fondue and gougeres with my Chardonnay. Or slow roasting short ribs and sitting by the fire playing Rumikub and a glass of red.
Bare: You have an amazing sense of style. How would you describe it? Who are your favorite designers or shopping destinations?
AL: Thank you! I love colorful fabulous layered style, but that is just not me. I am a classics girl. I always feel my best in blue jeans and a white shirt. I love a strong timeless blazer. I like pieces cut well. I love a long leg and high waist like Veronica Beard’s jeans. I dream in Celine. I splurge on Saint Laurent a few times a year because I wear their clothes season after season. I love there dresses with the long sleeves and cut short. I’m also really into Loeffler Randall’s boots. I just got a pair in cognac, and I am moving my heels down to 2 inches!
Bare: Can you share what you might be cooking for the holidays and which of your wines will be the star attraction?
AL: Lump crab cakes with lemony caper dip with my Chardonnay. It’s has notes of ripe delicious apple, a touch of oak, and it’s so well balanced. It’s a beautiful drinker. An app of roasted pears with gorgonzola and fresh thyme. Chunks of dark chocolate broken into pieces with a roquefort and fresh raspberries is my favorite dessert with a glass of my deep red blend… or 2!
Bare: Your skin is absolutely luminous! Do you have any favorite facials, devices, diet tips or supplements that contribute?
AL: Thank you. I try to steam anytime I can. Or else I run or take a hot yoga class. I am a big believer in tons of water and sweating to get the toxins out of your skin. Always La Mer and Weleda skin food. My skin is very dry. I’m also liking Image Skincare Ageless resurfacing mask, Relevant Sunburst vitamin C is a must, and I also love their Cleansing Balm when I need to take off heavy make-up. I’ve been trying Goop glow peel. I like the sting because I feel like it’s taking of my dry dead skin and the sins from the night before!
Bare: Please list your top 5 beauty bare essentials.
AL: La Mer creme, Relevant Vitamin C+ serum, Ogee glow lip oil in Viola, Charlotte Tilbury bronzer, and Lancome Defincils primer and deep black mascara!
