Olivia Holt
We had the pleasure of meeting up with the stunning multi talented Olivia Holt on a recent trip to LA. She showed up with a bag of the cutest clothing, natural hair and fresh face. Her latest single “Next,” which is streaming everywhere, had just been released and she was in a joyous mood. As she says on her Instagram this single has been by far one of her favorite songs she’s ever worked on and released. So dang happy for her and what’s to come for this gifted sweet soul.
The Bare Magazine: What do you love about making music? In what way does it continue to inspire you?
Olivia Holt: Music has been in my bones ever since i can remember. i grew up in a house full of music lovers. my dad was in an 80’s hair band, my mama is a hopeless romantic and listened to every love song ever made, my sister was obsessed with all kinds of musical theatre, and once my brother grasped his music taste, it was all rock n roll. the way music touches people is electric, and i watched it happen with every single member of my family.
Bare: Have you had any awesome feedback from fans on your new single "Next" that you can share?
OH: i’m so grateful that my fans have grown up with me in music. it’s been such an epic journey so far, creating my sound, knowing what i want to say lyrically, and making music that people can relate to, and dance to, and be the most liberated version of themselves.
Bare: How would you like to see your work evolve -- are there any new paths or directions you'd like to explore musically or in your acting?
OH: Of course! i always want to continue growing and soaking up all the knowledge i possibly can. there are still things i’m desperately curious about in both lanes of my career, i think that’s one of the reasons why i still do both. i have so much more to explore!
Bare: Since LA has fully opened up what activities are you excited about getting back to? Are you going to travel more?
OH: Concerts. i can’t wait to go to a live concert again. the energy in a venue when an artist or band is performing is untouchable. and as far as traveling goes, of course i want to start doing it more but i’ll probably slowly get back into it.
Bare: You brought some cute clothes to our shoot! Can you describe your personal style? What are your go to stores, designers, and brands? Do you love accessories?
OH: Thank you! i’ve really started appreciating fashion over the last few years. solidifying what i feel most confident in and most comfortable in. sometimes i’ll take risks, to try something new, but i love clothes now more than i ever have. i shop redone and levi’s for jeans. i’m in love with miu miu, prada, ysl. and saying i love accessories would be an understatement.
Bare: You have gorgeous skin with the prettiest freckles! Can you share your skincare regime and fav products?
OH: Wow, thank you! i’ve definitely been more into taking care of my skin recently. find the right products for my skin type and being very proactive about my regime. i’ve been living for all my sonya dakar products. they’ve been changing my skin for the better. and i have to always remind myself to wear spf every day.
Bare: Who are some favorite musicians and actors who inspire you, and who would be on your wish-list to work with?
OH: I’m a real big fan of a lot of female UK pop artists, ellie goulding, jess glynne, annemarie, to name a few. if i could work with all of them that would be the dream. but ultimately i would have loved to work with whitney houston. her music inspired me growing up and to this day still.
Bare: What are your bare essentials...can be anything?
OH: Lip balm is always at hand, as well as spf. headphones to listen to music. and popcorn. popcorn makes everything better.
