Rob Raco
Actor and musician Rob Raco just moved from LA back to our beloved home base of NYC — so we thought it was time for a catch up session. We had not seen him since back in his boyish Riverdale days. His striking features and outstandingly dreamy eyes now belong to a much more mature man who has weathered a few storms…seen some life. Scroll on down to find out his latest interests, style icons, skincare, workouts and of course his current bare essentials. Look out for Rob in a few upcoming feature films in 2024. “Art of a Hit” (just wrapped in France) and “A Hundred Lies” which he co-produced and stars in. We can’t wait to catch his ever evolving spirit and talents shine on the big screen.
The Bare Magazine: can you share a few of your current fitness / workout routines and goals. we want to hear about your latest interest in boxing too!
Rob Raco: I’m always pushing my body. I have a strict gym routine and calisthenics training to help ease my mind of how noisy outside life can become. I find that pushing myself physically, allows my mind to breathe. Boxing is something I’ve always loved. The risk vs reward is such a fine balance for me. You have to show up or you’ll get shown up. Preparation is such a huge key in all of my life activities, whether in acting or music and especially boxing.
Bare: what do you do to care for your skin on a daily basis? has your interest in caring for it grown?
RR: As I get older, I’ve gotten much simpler. I’m going to age, it’s inevitable. I wash my face with a simple scrub, put on a serum and a moisturizer. I feel like diet and eliminating poisons from daily routine is just as important as the products used topically.
Bare: do you feel it is more acceptable for a man to show signs of aging than for a woman? do you think that in the acting realm men stay busy as they age, but it's harder for a woman to get roles?
RR: I don’t think I’m qualified to answer this as I’m just attracted to the talent and truth of the moment. I think pop culture puts limitations on aging, etc but there are incredible talents on both sides who have aged gracefully into long careers.
Bare: who is your go-to barber that keeps your hair the way you like? what are your favorite hair products?
RR: Now that I’ve moved back to the West Village, when haircuts are not character driven or done on set, I use my man Pasquale at Barbers Society. As for the sauce, I recently partnered with a new gentleman’s hair product named Boxer & The Barber.
Bare: who are your top 3 inspiring style icons.
RR: I would say my current style icons are Paul Newman, for the effortless, classic styles that are just timeless, Tom Hardy for rocking a three piece to a carpet and athleasure to a press junket and 90’s Pitt for wild hair and classic clothing.
Bare: what does your diet mainly consist of? do you like to cook?
RR: I love food. I live in New York. We walk 25k steps a day. My metabolism has allowed me to eat most things and burn it off. When I’m prepping to be camera ready, I simplify the meals to a lot of grilled chicken, rice and veggies.
Bare: what are your favorite escapes, indulgences, self care practices?
RR: I love escaping to see Off-Broadway plays. I miss the stage and the truth that remains on it. Self-Care for me is family time. Whether chosen family or given family. Have a strong foundation and be vulnerable with your tribe.
