The Bare Magazine: Can you share your brightest memories of filming The School for Good and Evil?

Sophia Anne Caruso: Every day was a highlight. Each person on set brought a sense of humor and hard work and we made so many amazing memories.

I loved shooting scenes with Earl Cave. He’s such a sweet goofball and rocked playing Hort. + All the scenes in Gavaldon with Sofia Wylie were so fun because we had more time to bond and got to shoot a scene with my friend and fellow Broadway gal Patti Lupone.

Bare: What has been most impressive/satisfying about the incredible response to the story and its messages?

SAC: I’m so happy to see girls from younger ages all the way into their 20s watching our film. Sharing this message with a wide audience of girls specifically is important to me. The messages we tell challenges what we are taught a princess is. It shows that we are all beautiful and ugly/ good and evil, and the power of friendship and true love is what really matters.

Bare: Describe how your recent solo concert in NYC felt and performing your music live?

SAC: I was thrilled to hit the stage and rock out at Paradise Club. It’s been a whole pandemic… I strategically chose to wear my favorite Celine pant suit to feel most confident and bare feet to feel grounded and free. The set I made has a wide range of genres…. We go from Fleetwood Mac to Tori Amos to Hole to Bowie… I also sang my original music live for the first time!

Bare: Besides acting and music what would you list 3rd as your top passion?

SAC: Writing. I’ve kept journals my whole life and writing poetry is my outlet. Also - a lot of my poems are inspired by songs I’ve written prior.

Bare: You have been called a "thrift Queen." Would you say vintage and thrifting is your jam? Has your mom been an inspiration?

SAC: My mom owns a vintage/antique store. I have so many childhood memories going to estate sales with her /  the goodwill to find trinkets and treasures. I watched my mom dress up everyday to go to her store and she taught me everything I know about timeless fashion. She showed me what it looks like to be a hard working woman/mom and she inspires me daily!

Gotta peep her shop she’s got the best stuff.

Bare: Describe your dream role in a film?

SAC: Always something new… Nothing inspires me more than something truthful, but I like roles that provoke a conversation and challenge me too. I would like to feel artistically free and never boxed in one category.

Bare: Tell us about your love of dominos? And butterflies...

SAC: My mamma’s motto is “Roll The Dice” …

I think taking chances is important. So I absolutely love the vintage domino earrings I wore in these photos.

I collect framed butterflies. I’ve always had a fascination with them. I follow Monarch migrations and if I had to choose a different career I think being a Paleontologist specializing in Pre-Historic Lepidoptera (butterfly) might be up there on the list.
