Lauren LaVera

Scream queen beauty Lauren Lavera stars in Terrifier 3 which is the No. 1 film in the country as we write this. The gifted star on the rise caught the eye the films creator Damien Leone when he saw her masterful martial arts/kickboxing skills. We had the pleasure of catching up with her in NYC for it’s terrifying screening and documented her getting ready while chatting about her character Sienna, collaborating with Xtian De Medici and Olga Turka on her press/red carpet looks, skincare/product loves, project goals, bare essentials and music musts.

Bare: what did you love most about your character Sienna in Terrifier 3?

Lauren Lavera: I loved exploring how broken she was and trying to find the balance between the happiness she’s trying to find and the moments she has understandable outburts. I also loved the relationships she got to have in this one with her family, especially her little cousin, Gabby.

Bare: you mentioned your friend who designed your premiere dress was inspired by your character? tell us more about the look and your collaboration with him?

LL: Xtian De Medici is a genius! That was all his idea. I asked my good friend, Olga Turka, for help in styling for premiere looks and she reached out to Xtian to create some pieces. He designed and crafted all of my red carpet looks and absolutely nailed it every single time while Olga styled me. I was in great hands with those two!

Bare: we had fun capturing you getting ready for the premiere and all the skin prep! - take us through your skincare routine and your go-to products.

LL: I had fun too. :) I start with cleansing my face with CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. I then move onto a toning pad followed by Alto Advanced Defense and Repair Serum by Skin Better Science. I end my routine with Mystro Active Balance Serum by Skin Better and finish by moisturizing with CeraVe lotion.

Bare: what facial feature have you not always been thrilled with? are there features you like to play up and others you play down? but as you get older do you find you are more comfortable in your skin?

LL: I’ve always been self-conscious about my nose and my deviated septum which I was born with. It’s something I’ve always thought I would fix as it does sometimes affect my breathing. The older I get, the less likely I feel I will fix it as it is a feature of mine that looks exactly like my grandmother’s who inspired me to act. I’m definitely more comfortable in my own skin and care less and less what others think of my appearance with every passing day.

Bare: are you planning a fun night out for halloween?

LL: Absolutely! If I have time, of course. I’ve been extremely busy, which I know is a champagne problem, but it doesn’t leave much room for fun.

Bare: you were excited about a certain band that followed you on instagram - can you share who it is? what do you love about them?

LL: Twin Temple! I was introduced to their music about a year ago and they’ve been a go-to listen for me ever since. They’re an American rock duo and they’re music is very satanic doo-wop which I found to be so clever. The lyrics have heavy themes of feminism, social issues, and LGBT-rights so they’re pretty important to me.

Bare: describe a dream acting job you'd like to step into next?

LL: There are so many things I want to do but I’ve always wanted a role similar to Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider. Just a capable, badass, explorer. I’d also really love to do a martial arts focused buddy cop film in the vein of Rush Hour. I’ve been doing martial arts my whole life and I think it’s time I get the opportunity to show it off.
