Marisol Nichols — The Bare Magazine

Marisol Nichols is a longtime friend and amazing human. We are so thrilled to have her back. She is a not just a gorgeous face…she is loyal, intelligent, confident, talented, authentic, and bad ass! Clearly we love her and her latest leap into the podcast world with her very own The Marisol Nichols podcast — it is genius. She is hoping to do all she can to take child sex trafficking/slavery DOWN. She has even gone undercover as a young teenager and lured predators into a jail cell. She chats with us about all things she is passionate about from NYC to lip gloss, as she steps into this next phase of her journey. And we don’t want to miss a beat!

The Bare Magazine: Congratulations on your podcast and hitting True Crime Top 100! What do you think makes this such a hit?

Marisol Nichols: I’m honored that people are listening, and beyond thrilled at the success of it at such and early stage, my goal with the podcast is to educate as many people as possible on what’s currently going on in the world and protect as many children as I can from falling into this. It starts with education, education of parents, teachers, teenagers, everyone!

Bare: What is your mission and why are you so passionate about it?

MN:: To end Modern Day Slavery. It’s insane that this even exists in todays world and beyond heartbreaking that children are the victims in this...to the tune of 4 million of them world wide. I’m passionate about it because we have to end this. What sane person would buy another person, enslave them and even worse do it to a child? Haven’t we been over this? Didnt Lincoln free he slaves? Didn’t people learn their lesson on enslaving another? And yet this continues and we now have a world in which tens of millions of people are enslaved currently. How is this even possible...and yet these are the facts. Why am I passionate? How can I not be? A slavery free world, ‘That’s my end goal. Period, “The fact that we even have to have this goal of a slavery-free world is ridiculous, most people think there are no slaves today. They have no idea. And so I wanted to focus on the product that I’m going for, and sort of the light at the end of the tunnel.

Bare: You recently made a trip to NYC can you share some highlights and favorite spots to hang?

MN: Since one of my favorite things to do is walk, New York is the perfect city for this. Literally I will for walk 4-5 exploring the city. I also can’t go to New York without eating and shopping my way through the city. My favorite area for great food and shopping is Greenwhich Village. I love the authentic Italian Deli’s where you can grab the best snacks, great bakeries and locally owned boutiques. Of course I also have to make my way to Soho as well and I can’t leave New York without a slice of pizza from Joe’s or a cookie from Levains.

Bare: Can you share any new genre's of tv, film or theatre you'd like to explore that you haven't yet? Would you like to direct?

MN:: I’d really like to explore a fantasy/scifi movie I haven’t had too many opportunities to do that yet. Especially, since I read fantasy/scifi books almost every night. But I’ve been fortunate enough to do both drama and comedy over my career.

As far as directing. I think I will eventually move into this. I am currently producing several projects and I really love wearing that hat as a producer but directing will happen in the near future.

Bare: You are looking luminous and ageless! Tell us your recent go-to skincare regime and treatments/facials?

MN: First of all, Thank you! Currently I’m obsessed with this facial called PRX 33. It’s miraculous and there’s no down time, who doesn’t love that? As far as skincare I have several favorites, One of my most cherished discoveries is Swiss Line skincare’s, Cell Shock line. Joanna Vargas is also one of my go-to’s as well as this incredible Indie brand called In Your Face Skincare particularly obsessed with their “In Your Face cream”. You also can’t go wrong with Dr. Barbra Sturm products as well as some Skinceuticals.

Bare: You exude confidence which is so striking. Are there any areas you are have worked on to feel less insecure about and more accepting of?

MN:: I firmly believe experience is the best education and I swear I’ve gotten more confident and less caring of what people think as I’ve gotten older. It’s really freeing to just do what you want, be who you want and be not afraid to fail but throughout the years, I care less and less about myself and more about helping others and making a difference in the world. That’s freeing in itself.

Bare: We love that you're comfortable bare faced and fully made up - do you find you've gotten more comfortable in your skin as time goes?

MN:: I think I have. But don’t get me wrong I miss my 20-year-old skin that needed no help and was flawless. Although at that time I didn’t appreciate it and I’ll probably look back on myself 20 years from now and say “Hey, I look great!” I’ve just become way less serious as time goes on.

BM: What is your favorite look when going fully glammed up and what products do you use to achieve it?

MN: I love a really good smoky eye, to me the eyes are everything.

I’ll use different products to achieve it and I have many favorites.

I always start with shadow so if there’s any fall out, I can clean it up with concealer and foundation.

For eyeshadow’s there are many I love but right now I am really loving Natasha Denona eye shadow palettes. There colors are amazing and they blend so easily to really buff out for a flawless shadow look. The Biba Neutral palette has the perfect colors of cream, tan, gold, dark brown, black and a deep brick maroon that I just love!

I’m obsessed with Pat McGrath’s eyeliners and my favorites are Blk Coffee and Blitz brown. I’ll use the the Coffee next to my lashes and then then the blitz brown on top of that and buff it all together.

Sometimes I will even use an eyeliner as shadow but you need a really creamy formula for that. My go to for creamy eyeliners are Victoria Beckham’s line, the Satin Kajal line. Talk about luxurious! I use the Cocoa closest to the lash line followed by the most gorgeous Bordeaux and then bronze on top of that and blend them all up….it’s just gorgeous. I am really loving the Olive color as well for a pop of color.

Lashes. I mean who doesn’t love a good lash and if I’m needing more oomph for a real glam look my go to is Lilly Lashes. They really are magnificent without being super obnoxious. Just a great glam look and I feel beautiful in them.

If I’m going with my own lashes I swear by this mascara called Heroine Make I found on Amazon. The stuff just doesn’t move!

As far as skin goes, I love many different brands but I always seem to end up back with Tom Ford. I’ll use the Traceless soft matte or even the Tracelss foundation stick I just find the best coverage for a really great evening look. My next favorite is Pat McGrath’s foundation. It just looks like your skin and I don’t know how this woman does it but her stuff is phenomenal.

Charlotte Tillbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow is the ultimate bronzer, contour, glow up. Adds just beautiful color and shine without being too overpowering.

I’ll have to add cheek color and for the last 3 years in a row I’ve only used Cle de Peau Cream Blush in Persimmon. It gives you that glow from within look and stays on longer than anything else I’ve found. To create some natural contour I’ve been using Ogee’s Copper face stick it blends seamlessly.

Lips….I keep simple. Since I’m punching up the eyes so much everything else has to be more subtle. I’ll use either Glossier lipstick in Cake…it looks exactly like my lips and lately I’m adding a touch of shine with Haus Labs clear lip oil.
