Matthew Rhys

We had the pleasure of catching up with the exceedingly gifted, enormously handsome, hilarious, Emmy award winning Welshman and dear friend Matthew Rhys. We have a breakdown of his upcoming whereabouts for ya. This week he makes a quick trip to London to join his costar Rosamund Pike, whom he describes as “unnervingly talented,” for the premiere of their psychological thriller Hallow Road. When he returns he heads to Boston to begin work on the thriller/comedy Widow’s Bay for Apple TV+. Currently he stars as Inspector Leach in the Britbox hit Towards Zero, TV’s most provocative Agatha Christie adaptation yet. Sometime this fall/winter he’ll be starring in The Beast in Me a Netflix mini thriller with Claire Danes and begins work on Silent River with his longtime friend John Krasinski. In between all that he finds time to be a great father to Sam and partner to longtime love Keri Russell. Needless to say we couldn't pin this busy guy down for an extensive interview, but he blessed us with his current Bare Essentials and a promise of a more of to come…if he’s not too tired!
Matthew Rhys shares his 6 bare essentials…………….
1. Folding pocket knife -
To while and whittle away hours on set.
2. Books - of inconceivable and unfathomable topics with unpronounceable names. To leave around casually as if I were not only reading but understanding and appreciating.
3. Red wine. Just a steady old friend that never lets you down. Although calls upon you the next day far more frequently these days, asking for payment for the night before.
4. R.M. Williams boots for Riding horses and shit kicking. (I can’t back up the shit kicking).
5. Filson coat and bag. Lifers. Will be with you until judgement day and unlike the red wine, won’t ask a tithe for their abuse.
6. Snickers. Because.
