Keri Russell
Keri Russell is currently starring in the eerie and disturbing horror film “Antlers” directed by Scott Cooper. Her performance is a compelling combo of sensitive, troubled, wise and totally badass. Keri generously allowed us to step behind the scenes to document her press appearances and premiere glam time. She shares tips, treatments and latest product loves like de Mamiel, plus what new album she can’t get enough of. If this diary can even slightly convey how effortlessly, timelessly, fresh, raw and real this lady is…then we did ok. Take a scroll down for more and lookout for her next project starring in the Elizabeth Banks directed “Cocaine Bear.”
The Bare Magazine: What are your top makeup or skincare products? Which have you been using the longest?
Keri Russell: I love all lotions and potions! and I have many........... I have dry skin so the thicker and creamier it is, the better. I think we are all learning a lot more about clean products and I am definitely working those into my routine BUT I do still use some old favorites.
Shiseido eye cream Benefiance — to me it’s the richest there is and concealer doesn't get cake-y when I use this first.
Montana Ranch Emu oil Rejuvenation cream — again, super rich and I love the smell. I use it on my face my body even my hair sometimes!
Dr. Hauschka lip balm it leaves my lips super smooth and hydrated — perfect prep for lip color as well.
Bare: Any new products you're liking/trying lately?
KR: Lately I've been loving de Mamiel's whole line. she makes this great oil called, altitude oil that I use everyday in my masks. its so refreshing ( and much better than smelling my own breath for 8 hours). I also really love her bath salts. it gives the whole bath this silky feeling.
Bare: Where do you go for your favorite facial and why?
KR: I've only recently started getting facials and once I discovered Joanna Vargas before an award show one year I felt I was being let in on this magical secret. oh! THIS is what all the fancy ladies do to look like that on the red carpet!!! Joanna is not only super cool but is some kind of magical facial sorceress. everything looks less old and somehow glowy and fresh.
Bare: What are a few positives of getting older?
KR: Positives of getting older? oh god, I don't want to be 25 again EVER. MAYBE I would like to have my 25 year old ass but that is about it. I think all my girlfriends actually look better now than they ever did. And everyone is cooler and sexier now. So far, I like my age. (ask me in 10 years, maybe I'll have changed my tune...)
Bare: We hear you are fond of a bold feathery brow. Have you ever had a treatment to help pump them up?
KR: One of my favorite details right now is a big feathery brow. like big dark a little unruly teenage Brooke Shield's 1980's brow. (Like we all had before that devastating 90's trend of plucking. Not cool.). Kristie Streicher has it DOWN and gives me little Microfeather touch ups at her salon Striiike)
Bare: Can you describe your personal style? What staple pieces have been part of your wardrobe since way back?
KR: Matthew would describe my personal style as sam shepherd from the right stuff. I'll come downstairs ready to go to dinner and he'll say, "Oh, Sam Shepherd from “The Right Stuff” again, huh?"
What can I say. Boys clothes are cooler.
Frank Fleming who always dresses me better than I ever would myself, has slowly trained me into having good style. probably something like, 10 years ago, he presented me with these black leather McQueen pants at which I balked in disbelief, thinking I could never pull something like that off. It is probably the one item in my closet I have consistently worn the most over the years.
Bare: What music can you be found listening to on repeat these days?
KR: The album I have on repeat at the moment is “War on Drug's” new release, “I Don't Llive Here Anymore.” — so good. Some major Brooklyn hair blowing in the wind bike rides with that blasting in my headphones like a teenager.
